The Mitsubishi Pajero 1982 features a fairly boxy and restrained design language. The front end houses circular headlights, a large black colored rectangular grille, and an outward sticking black bumper. The rear end houses the spare wheel, stacked vertical rectangular style side swept taillights and a swing-out hinged door. The 5-door SUV features identical styling apart from being slightly longer to accommodate the rear doors. All variants of the Mitsubishi Pajero feature identical styling in every aspect. The overall exterior of the 1st Generation Mitsubishi Pajero features familiar styling for an SUV that was designed in the early eighties.

The interior of the Mitsubishi Pajero 1st Generation features the use of black plastic trim pieces. The front and rear seats are covered in fabric. Standard features on the DX include, a stereo speaker audio system, and a tachometer. Features on the higher end XL feature power steering, adjustable steering wheel height, wood paneling and cassette input on the stereo speaker audio system. Options include a sunroof. The overall interior of the 1982 Mitsubishi Pajero features a good amount of interior space in both the front and rear for an SUV of its size, but features a below par level of comfort and interior refinement.
